Non Resident Player Disclaimer
We get email every week from players in Argentina, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and the U.K.
Most of them (in this professional era) are looking to get paid for playing Rugby in the U.S.A.
Unfortunately there are extremely limited opportunities for this, compared to the countries mentioned above.
There are very few clubs in the U.S. that even have their own field, let alone the funds
to pay overseas players. There is no prize money or funding support coming down to the clubs, and until
Mr Murdock (of FOX T.V.) steps in with his $Billions, its unlikely to change!
In this club's case, our funds are going towards the purchase of a field of our own and
developing High School Rugby in our area. We do have players almost every year come play for us (mainly
from N.Z.), but these are guys who pay their own way over here, and who are simply looking for the
experience of living in the U.S. What we do for them is find them living accomodations (with other
club members), and assist in finding work (usually construction work).
They also secure their own medical insurance (medical services are very expensive here), we are insured
for liability only (meaning we're protected if someone sues us!).
If you are looking to get a work permit, then good luck! They are extremely hard to get, and it is
illegal to work in the U.S. without one. Your employer can be prosecuted and you will be deported
if you are caught. Of course lots of people do work illegally - this is just to let you know how things are!
So after reading this do you still want to come out here? If you do then let's talk, email us and
let us know you've read this disclaimer. You would be coming to a club that is competitive but is certainly
not the strongest in this area. But we do believe in all traditional Rugby values, especially the one that
states Rugby should be FUN.
